Final Letter

Where to even start...

San Diego will always be hallowed ground to me. I love my mission, not every day was flowers and roses and in fact, I'm not sure if any day was. 

One of the greatest things I have learned on my mission is that the more dependant on Him we become the more independent of the world we become. I have realized that God takes us as who we are but he does not intend for us to stay What we are. Divine discontent is the characteristic that is ingrained in any who is worthy to be called a Disciple of Jesus Christ. One can be pleased with the progress they have made but must never be satisfied with one's ability to love, serve, learn, and live a life patterned after the Savior. 

Alma 32 teaches that "blessed are those that are compelled to be humble but more blessed are those who are humbled because of the word of God." 

In essence, it is one thing to do the right thing because you have to, it is another to choose the right thing because you want to. Like staying Worthy. You can stay worth because you "should" or you can stay worthy because you "Want" to. 

President Stubbs said this best

"Obedience is not the Goal, Obedience is the Plan, Becoming like our Father in heaven is the Goal"

Let me make this clear. I know, like know, that Jesus Christ is the Son of the only true and Living God. I don't know or comprehend the magnitude or significance of his Atoneing sacrifice, I only know that it works. Serving for the last 21 months doing what the Savior did has been a sacred experience, strengthening the feeble knees, lifting the hands that hang down, and wiping away every tear from the broken spirits. 

I am a missionary, a friend, a brother, and a son. I Am a Disciple of Jesus Christ.

The LAST WEEK begins......

THE LAST WEEK begins...

Well honestly feels like another week in the field on what will forever be hallowed ground. It has come to the point that when people ask where I hesitate wanting to say " San Diego '' but... don't think 21 months qualifies me.

This week was so nice we got to go and do Service at Camp Wildwood! (a church camp) and it was so much fun! We literally picked big old rocks then tossed them into a front end loader for 2 hours. It was so refreshing. Some parks and trails are opening up again so we got to go a short hike until we got a tad lost but the trail and terrain are not hard to navigate so we found our way eventually.

I also had so super insightful personal studies this week and I hope that I am able to do them justice

for one there was a Worldwide young single adult Conference with Elder Gay of the Seventy. It was so good I listened to it 3 times in less than 24 hours. 

He shared many experiences but the one that struck me the most and I imagine him was... as he sat in the office of an Apostle being called to be a mission president, he and his wife looked at each other than politely declined the call they were to "BUSY".

The Apostle then looked at Elder Gay and said " Brother Gay you really do not get it, you can either live a Covenant Life or a Convenient Life"

I was struck with the power of that phrase! You cannot live Both. you can not make Covenants before God Angles and Witnesses then pick and decide which ones you will live or even when you will live them. For many of us sorry that ship has sailed. This brings to mind to me a quote from Elder Pearson of the seventy but I now echo them as my own. "I lived my life preparing to make Covenants in the Temple of God when I turned 18, and over the last 21 months I have shaped my life around those covenants and I will continue to do so"    To be frank "hanging in there is not a principle of the Gospel, We Must Endure to the End" Average is the enemy of excellence and there is no room for lukewarm or average discipleship in the kingdom of God."

WE Each only truly have one Unique thing to place on God's Altar, that is the submission of our own will.

 Choose you this day what you will live a Covenant life or a Convenient Life.

And another one gone. 

Today I looked over at my Companion Elder Powell, who has been out for 2 months. And said, "you know I have fewer days than you do months..."

Starting to get real Haha. But it doesn't feel like it. 

The Work is still progressing we should be seeing Elena be baptized either this week or next!!! She is super awesome she is Greek and actually knows how to read Greek and speak a little. 

Then last week we got a text at midnight and we woke up to read this text from Derek a friend of ours

 "The Church is True" 

Not going to lie I was a little skeptical at first. We tried to set up a video lesson but it never worked out until about a week later than we finally met today!!! Derek had indeed come to know for himself he told us of his experience how he had had enough of the confusion and determined to pray and ask God. And now his countenance has changed he was so talkative and excited and ready to go! The gospel finally made sense to him and he was expounding on the restoration like "of course we need a prophet today! With the Priesthood authority of God! With more of his word revealed to us..." and on and on he went. It was a very sacred experience. So we asked him what is next? His response "I want to be Baptized...eventually, I need to overcome some things first" we set goals and made plans right there made a group chat with other members. Now we just need to fan the flame!!! 

We so had another awesome lesson with Julie!  We have friends of ours really progressing! It's is weird but we really see the difference when we bring a member into the conversion process and the Highland Valley ward is extremely good at volunteering to be apart of that. We had one of our ward Missionaries nagging us for 2 weeks to get him and his wife in on a lesson. Then we finally had the opportunity and they knocked it out of the park!!! They had never met Elena and yet they connect so well. Elena even said that she would call them later that week just to talk! 

Not going to lie until I started writing this letter I had forgotten all the tender mercies and miracles this week. But as I have reflected on this last week it has been a very rewarding week. I will miss this Mission it has been a sacred Experience. 

I have really been pondering lately how "the more we depend on God, the more Independent of the world we become."

We also taught a member family from our balcony at a distance of about 20 feet (King Benjamin style) it was super fun and will be an experience to remember.

Pandemic is softening hearts

We had another pretty good week. We are finding things to keep us busy. I will admit doing all of our work on the phone is difficult because as we all know when you are one your phone all day you feel like it is sucking the life out of you because it kinda is. We got a referral this week from our Bishop (who is super awesome Bishop Andersen) and we set up a lesson with her (Shawnee) the lesson went well and she was very attentive. The Pandemic is softening hearts!!! We also had a very uplifting lesson with Julie yesterday and we added a Member of the Ward (Sister HW) into the call and she was literally perfect for Julie! they have very similar life experiences. When Sister White began to share part of her testimony the spirit was palpable and Julie was very attentive, asking questions and adding to the lesson. It will be a turning point for Julie! especially since there is a good chance that Elder Powell and I will be gone before we get to meet her in person so to have a friend for her is Perfect! 

other than that not too eventful this week, video lessons and whatnot. OH But not sure if anyone actually reads these Emails anymore, Probably not, but we are allowed to call home to friends and members of our homeward to teach lessons and so if any of yall are interested hit me up on Facebook Messenger!!!

Been thinking a lot about the Atonement lately, I was thinking how does Christ Dying really merit anything (not to be sacrilegious, just an honest question) I studied this hard for a few days and then literally one day as I sat down at my desk to write in my journal.  Then it hit me and I began to understand a portion of it!!! I was so excited I couldn't sleep that night. This is not what I learned about the Atonement but this is one thing I did Learn. "I do not understand or comprehend the Atonement, and may never fully grasp its all-encompassing magnitude, But I KNOW THAT IT WORKS" I have had a front-row seat for 20 months as I have had the opportunity to mend the broken and strengthen the Feeble knees, I Cannot Deny it.

This is the Lord's Work!

There is no end above!

This was a great week, we have seen some really cool miracles this week. 

 On Sunday we were making phone calls and we were going through our list and we came across a lady named Julie. We thought nothing of it since we had been calling members all afternoon. We had a very pleasant conversation and then we felt prompted to set up a video lesson (just like every other member we talked to that day) she said that Monday worked and we set it up. After we hung up I looked at her profile a little closer and realized that she was not a member of the Church!!! So we set up a lesson with a random lady we just met on the phone. But we had a very good lesson the next day and we set up a time to do another video lesson!!!

We also had the opportunity to give the man who's property we live on a Priesthood blessing with our Ward Mission leader (before it became illegal) the man's name is Rick and he had been bed-bound for three days coughing up some sad stuff. And extremely weak. Brother Shrope gave a very inspired Blessing! And right after Rick fell back onto his bed nearly breathing...

As we walked out Brother Shope turned to us and grimly sad "not sure how much longer he has"

Turns out

30 mins later he was beginning to breathe normal again. 4 hours no cough. 10 hours his strength begins to come back. The next morning Rick was walking in his yard doing some little tasks around the yard! He literally went from being bed bound with his wife holding the phone all day ready to call 911 to walking around his yard in less than 24 hours!!!  Rick was so so Grateful and teared up as he thanked us a million times over. Had to remind him the Blessings are Conditional upon the recipient's Faith.

Anyways I am doing very well with Bright Spirits we Feel the Prayers of the People for us Missionaries Currently Serving in such a Unique time? But with Unique Challenges come Unique lessons and Revelations to be learned!!!

The first week in Ramona

Case you missed it I am Whitewash training in Ramona. Which is super exciting only problem us that the Elders before us left us with literally no information on the area, didn't even know where the church or apartment was. And the Apartment was a mess Haha. So I actually was having a tough time getting studies in since we were so busy trying to get our feet under us. But the apartment is on a member's property out of town kinda in the woods with a little fishing pond that us good for killing about a half-hour when we head outside to get some fresh air. #Blessed

Our day is different every day. We wake up at 6:30 (I am sure of that) work out for about an hour. Then get ready for the day. It pushes our schedule back by about 30 mins but we are allowed to adjust our schedule.

Studies then lunch then depending on where we are at. More studies or we are running little miscellaneous tasks. Calling people, cleaning, we teach about two lessons a day in the evening so that is always something to look forward to! Today we even found a way to do an object lesson through the phone. We just had the family get their own home supplies. 

The difficult part about quarantine for people is the feeling of a lack of progress. There is nothing to work towards. However, the best way to get through each day and not only survive this time but thrive is to. Have a set routine. The individuals that are going stir crazy and dare I say Missionaries are the ones that are not doing anything or at least trying to. This is giving each one of us time to really see how we act when we don't go to church every Sunday, this is where the motion Members and the life Long Disciples of Jesus Christ are separated. President Nelson in a recent article "the future of the church April 2020" said that we as members of the church will need to develop "Dogged Persistence"

So here comes one of the most soul-stirring questions "Will ye also go away? Or to paraphrase will ye also peeter out?" Take time to really ponder this question.

Last Area

So I have been transferred to Ramona, Highland Valley Ward! It is a super awesome area! And I am White Wash Training... so please send prayers literally don't know where to start considering the circumstances.

Spooky week... the world has shut down it is pretty interesting. We are to work from our apartments as much as possible. We are allowed to leave to go on a walk, emergency service, and go to the church for Wifi. Not going to lie with all this and us not being able to do a lot of the things we were doing before, I felt very off for the last week. But I have since come to terms with it and am now doing very well. Grateful that life has been able to slow down, in many ways so I can have really been able to appreciate the simple things in life. Honestly a handshake... forget what that is. We are not allowed to meet as a district. And we have been asked to coordinate who is at the church so we do not run into different companionships. 

This is a very interesting time to be a missionary, but it has been a privilege to serve at this time!

I am just spooked....

 A spooky week indeed. 

First off we had Zone Conferences at Camp Wildwood!!! It was so much fun we did team-building exercises and had a blast the first day. Sunny out it was like 25° no wind. Perfect weather. We Even got President Stubbs to where matching space Eagle Shirts with us and the senior sister training leaders. (I will send pics) 

Them the next to days it poured rain! So we did our trainings in the morning and then played a massive game of soccer in the rain for 2hours!!! It was so much fun. Low key a lot of the missionaries got sick because of it Haha.

We got to stay up at camp Wildwood for three days to run the zone conferences so we went out with the Ramona Elders in the evening after dinner with the Stubbs. We even had an extra half hour in the evening so we just caught frogs Haha felt like we were running a summer camp Haha. But not really because it was a grind during the day. 

Then everything blew up with the virus. And members started cancelling appointments on us and missionaries around the mission. So the work has definitely changed. 

Then I found out that I am being sent home early in May... super sad, it has come as a shock to many Elders and I will be forever grateful for the time I have had to serve my Savior. And the short time that I have left.

Fear not

We had Elder Brent Neilson of the Seventy come to our stake conference! It was so good! He spoke to us about our days and how even though the world has never been in so much turmoil and strife. There is no escaping it. Whether you leave home or travel to some temporal paradise the commotion will never settle, the words will only get more bitter. Yet in this day of tribulation, the Church of Jesus Christ has never been so well established, as church attendance across the globe decreases the church of Jesus Christ continues to increase. Why do we fear? This has been prophesied and foretold since the Prophets of Old. In fact, the Prophets in our day have and are warning us of these days and the days to come  "in the coming days it will not be possible to survive spiritually without the constant guidance and Directing influence of the Holy Ghost."-President Nelson

Elder Neilson shared with us some council he heard from Boyd K Packer "do you know what the only emotion the 12 apostles do not feel?... Fear" 

Fear chases away Faith. For Fear is not of God.

7. For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

One of the greatest things I have learned is that the enabling power of the Atonement of Jesus Christ is accessible through daily Repentance.

With our District, it was so fun!!!

A whole lot of everything

We had a really good week!!! Busy busy busy with lessons and meetings exchanges...honestly a whole lot of everything! 

We got to play some Basketball with Drey (a good friend of ours) and some of his friends that are way better at basketball than Elder Rausch and I Haha. But not sure what came over me and Elder Rausch but we were playing really good...seriously we were both making buckets so Drey and All his friends Loved us 😂😂😂. 

We Had exchanges in El Centro this week and I was on Bikes with Elder Jones who was an Elder we played our helmet joke on. We worked so hard that day we set up 3 retuned appointments talked to everyone and had a very productive day! The thing was that I was in the area for one day and Elder Jones had been there for just over a week so he didn't know the area very well. When we got back to the Apartment we found out that we had been working in the Sisters area Alllllday... pretty funny but we sent off all the return appointments haha.

This week we also did a mini Mission for the youth in the Santee stake "leap into your mission" for the leap year. We got to take out three young men and I mean young 12,13 and 16

But it was super good! We got to take a boy out named Marlen who is not a member yet, he came to church after he had a sleepover with a friend and came to church that morning with his friend. When he got home he ran to his Parents and was yelling "we have to be Mormons Mom we Have to be!" After only 4 weeks He and now his whole family of 5 are working towards being baptized on the 21st! 

So we took Marlen out with us and we taught a couple lessons but the highlight was actually tracting with him! Three of us walk up to the first door and I stop to explain how things are going to go and he blows past me and knocks on the door. I ask him "aren't you a little scared" ( his friend was) to which he responded, "no, why Would I be?" 

I was amazed, when the scriptures speak of babes confounding the wise this was definitely it. I was confounded. And later found a quote that described him perfectly 

"Why be scared of what is in front of you when you Have HIM standing behind you."

The door opened and I started talking we had a good conversation and as we were saying goodbye Marlen puts his Hand out with a pass-along card and says "come to church with us!" (He was doing my job I forgot to give him a card)

Then Marlen literally started running from door to door skipping some because he felt we should find the homes that were ready for us... we had a system he would pick and knock on the door and I would do the talking then he would give the invitation or card, pamphlet. He was so excited about serving a mission someday! Oh and he is the 12 year old. 

Got to Go on Exchanges with my MTC companion Elder J Taylor!!! He is in Swahili work. We did a White Board booth on the Grossmont Campus and we talked to so many people and we have out 3 copies of the Book of Mormon and pamphlets and Pass along Cards + some really interesting conversations. Even had a guy come and yell at us about how God Does not Exist for about a minute. But people kept talking to us! Just so happened to have some Swahili speakers come up to us and Elder Taylor was able to talk to them and get their numbers!!!

Been studying Humility in the Book of Mormon in preparation for General Conference. I read in

 (Alma 29:14-17)

As a Natural man, it is easy to feel that one's Success somehow takes away from your worth. 

But let us deliberately Joy more in the Success of our fellow servants more than we joy in ourselves.

Life Experience

Another good week but considerably slower with transfers. Not much to report on what has happened this week. Other than we got to pick up some Hong Kong Elders from the airport that have been reassigned here permanently. They have a very unique first 4 months of their missions. But we took a picture with haze masks to help let humour relive their discouragement. 

Been thinking a lot about what it means to teach by the Spirit. And in conversations with institute teachers, bishops,and other missionaries, the main thing I have learned is that when you go to teach a lesson or give a talk. Your preparation began the day you were born, not the two hours you put into it before the lesson. You can draw on and use your life Experience to teach by the Spirit. God allows us to go through experiences so we can learn but more importantly so you can inspire and connect with others.

Small and simple things

Another busy week. We hiked Iron Mountain this week with some members from our YSA and it was the most fun hike I have done in San Diego!!! It is in a really good spot and if I'm not mistaken it is the highest peak in the county. (Which isn't that high haha) but you can see all of San Diego with a 360° view, I did make a mistake about 5 minutes in by sprinting with Elder Rausch 100m to a sign just for fun but then I felt so sick after for the next 3 miles. Little gospel lesson to be learned "it is not requisite that a man should run faster than he has strength." Mosiah 4:27 This week I gained a perfect knowledge of what that means...

Also, Sunday was Grandpa Keith's Birthday and the intermediate hymn we sang in Sacrament meeting was Families can be together forever... I love how God works by small and simple things because he knew that it would mean a lot to me. And I had a wonderful experience as I remembered all my Joyful Memories of a Man that helped Raise me.

He chose to serve a mission after a member of his Bishopric knocked on his door calling them both on missions and that moment where he could have said no he said yes. The choice that Keith made that day has and will continue to bless generations of his Children.

We also were contacting some people this week and I asked a man if he had one piece of advice what would it be? He thought for a moment then he said one of the most simple yet profound answers.

"People remember what you Do, not what you said"

I invite you to consider what are you doing to truly bare one another's burdens. And promise that as you do you will be able to stand blameless before God the Last day as you gave as He gave.

Sunshine, Rainbows and Lollipops Everywhere!

Okay okay, we had a fun week. With transfer coming up we have been very busy and one thing I have recently been learning is how to be a scapegoat, or in other words how to take the blame for others. This was a weird week I learned that need somebody to blame for everything. For example, the Mission President makes some hard decisions and the people it effect are very upset with who? Us 😂   then Missionaries make some dumb choices who is the mission President upset with??? Us😂 

It has been a very good learning experience and I have learned that you can only worry about what you can control... YOURSELF. And it is actually a very humbling experience to take the fault for others. 

We went and played soccer with some YSA on the SDSU campus and we saw a bunch of guys playing and invited them to play with us, little did we know they were practicing for the state Cup... they could have told us before we started playing. It was a lot of fun though. 

We also had Elder Whiting of the Seventy come to regional YSA sacrament meeting. It was so amazing. I got to ask him a couple of questions after. And his overarching message was that you must Deliberately choose what you are going to become. Going with the flow will not allow you to progress into the eternal Being God intends you to become. 

"Average is the enemy of Excellence, and Average commitment will prevent you from Enduring to the End" -Elder Pearson 

Be abnormal... def: "Much Greater than the Normal"

We are a peculiar people. And we each need to deliberately choose to Follow Jesus Christ.

OH I also.go to go on Exchanges with he ASL Elders in the mission and it was so fun!!! I got to say the closing prayer in ASL in 4 lessons and it was a very moving experience. The Elders that have this Assignment have a very special assignment because deaf people are so humble and very ...talkative/expressive when you start trying to communicate with them.  They have a TV, laptop, and wifi router that has been approved so they can teach lessons through video calls.

Birthday dinner - Tuna melt

Awe 20 I ended a decade of my life and began a new one by having a tuna melt for dinner🐟😂 

It literally felt just like any other day except believe it or not I usually eat better on other days Haha. 

We had a good week this week full of zone Conferences! They went very very well, the mission unanimously stated that this was the most inspiring zone Conference of their mission. Which was a treat because Elder Rausch and I were tasked with going through the new Handbook for Missionaries (basically new standards and rules) it went very well though. We were asked a ton of what-if questions that could have gone on all day but we quoted Joseph Smith "I teach correct Principles and they govern themselves" we also then twisted it, to what missionary do you want to become? We had the entire mission write down their answers and asked some to share (if the spirit prompted them). The Spirit was so strong as each missionary set their own high expeditions. Many missionaries came up to us and texted us thanking us for this new "revival in the mission." 

We noticed the blessing yesterday as we looked at the baptismal calendar we have a baptism every day for the month of February!!!

Couple tender mercies

As we are about to start zone conference the Senior sister training leaders pulled us aside asking for a blessing as one of them was feeling really sick with a migraine. We quickly gave her a blessing of healing and then went into the conference. After Zone Conference, the sister came up to us and said: "just so you know I felt instantly better the moment you said amen." She was able to give her training that went super well! 

Next is after a zone conference we were too far from home to get dinner and we had some work in the area we wanted to get done so we took a 20 min nap on the side of the road since we were so tired then we started visiting people. And we were so so hungry at about 7 we meet this lady and have a good conversation with her then she turns and runs inside and comes out with two chocolate protein bars! 

Elder Rausch and I could not hide out excitement Haha but those bars carried us through the rest of the night! 

Look for the hand of the lord in your life and you see his whole arm made manifest

Land of the neverending summer

Ah San Diego is so great! I love this work and the Hand of God is very present in the work! 

One tender mercy is that in the last 3 months more families are being taught and baptized than in the last 4 years!

With San Diego being warm we gets me San Diego Vibes... saw a man yesterday breaking a boogie on intersection corner with a big radio speaker on his Shoulder Haha wish I got a video because he was really dancing. He was sweating pretty good. 

We have been having some cool experiences going from home to home. People have been willing to listen for "5 mins" they say so we teach a short restoration then they end up asking us a million questions and we just say those are some great questions we will answer those next time we come, does Friday or Saturday work? Bang got them!

I was on Exchanges with Elder Partridge this last week. And it was 8:40 at night and we were trying to find a member's home who the ward had not seen in about a year. After a few wrong doors, we are walking past the house at the very end of the street. And this big Ol Great Dane comes around the corner with this big deep bark and this little ankle biter chihuahua. Literally woke is the entire neighbourhood. Every dog on the street started barking at us... keep in mind it is 8:40. This guy comes out of the house and yells at us "who are you!" "Uh we are the missionaries for the Church..." "Oh come in through the gate on the side there" 

Ya super nice guy turned out to be the family we were looking for and he basically told us that he was about to scream at us to get lost until we said we were missionaries. 

In my studies, I found this scripture very impactful and very applicable to our day. 

We as a people miss the mark because we focus on the questions that really do not matter. The Lord should not have to shake us to do the right thing and he is mindful.of each one of us that even a Child can understand the truths of Eternity. The very truths at "wise" men will spend a lifetime trying to find the answer to life's biggest questions. 

Jacob 4:14

"sought for things that they could not understand. Wherefore, because of their blindness, which blindness came by looking beyond the mark, they must needs fall; for God hath taken away his plainness from them, and delivered unto them many things which they cannot understand"

New and Everlasting Covenant

one of them quick weeks!!! We have been doing so good the last few days, we went on and Exchange out in El Centro about 2 hours away. And it was so fun we stayed the night with the Elders and then got to work first thing in the morning. I was on a bike with Elder Espino who is a native spanish speaker but he grew up in Washington picking cherries (he is a literal Cherry Picker haha) he is so awesome he is a really hard worker and connects with the people really well. we were biking down the street and we saw this guy biking towards us so we stopped and said hey how is your day and the guy actually stopped his bike and started talking to us... ended up biking with him to a park bench a few blocks away and then we taught him the restoration in Spanish. haha well Elder Espino did I listened and then Elder Espino translated for me!

Elder Rausch and I are definitely having way to much fun together!!! we get along super well and are very open with each other, the best part is we are just straight-up weird together haha the YSA ward loves us and we are kept very busy. It has been a huge blessing we wake up every day with stuff to do.

This week I have really been studying the New and Everlasting Covenant "temple sealing" 

it has been blowing my mind it is a simple yet very profound doctrine!

There are some really amazing promises that come from entering into the New and Everlasting Covenant. (Doctrine and Covenants 132:19) that is only one verse! But it goes on in Verse26 that being Sealed does not Guarantee exaltation. I Heard a Jewish Rabbi speak at a community event this week and she said "we must pray with our feet and with our hands" in other words we must Go and Do.

I love this Work and I feel so grateful that I have to opportunity to Serve my the only true and Living God. Jesus Christ lives and has borne our griefs (Mosiah 14:4)

Practical joke

We have been super busy with Transfers. And I got to stay with Elder Rausch! Finally, the streak has been broken, of a new companion every transfer. We had a good week though we got to play doubles tennis with Shaurya one of our friends that is pretty good at tennis but somehow Elder Rausch and I held our own and almost won. Tennis is way more fun than I previously thought Haha.

We also decided to pull a little joke on the new missionaries as they came into the mission... we even had President Stubbs in on it!

We placed bike helmets under each seat in the van. Then we picked them up from the airport and once they all piled in we turned around and were giving some things to know about the mission before we got on the road..."you may notice Helmets under your seat" without question everyone reached down and put the helmet on their heads (it was way too easy) 

We then explained the reason being that we have had a number of bad crashes in the mission recently so this was a standard that we have been asked to live... 

We drove 45mins to the stake center (helmets on) then had dinner and got to know them it wasn't until the next morning that our scheme was figured out Haha. 

Most of the missionaries got into the car and asked their trainer for a helmet but... the trainers had no idea what they were talking about Haha. 

As a mission we have really been focusing in letter of the law and Spirit of the law it has been extremely eye-opening to me as I have really pondered it over the last few months

What helps describe it best is Adam and Eve

The letter of the law was to not partake of the fruit. But God had a great purpose "to multiply and replenish the earth" Eve understood that she need to transgress the law to fulfill God's greater purpose. 

That is very simple but I have a lot more to say on the subject.
